You will find a very typical public “institution” in most Tanzanian villages: a tent or a place with a roof that hosts a pool table, and a betting office right next to it. Incredibly simple and popular. Pool players bet against each other. Each one of them puts up the same amount (maybe 1000 shillings = ±0.60 USD per player) and the winner takes it all. There is no second winner. The player with the highest number of balls is the only winner.
… and obviously, you will always find the simple “who-will-win-tonight’s-game” sort of football betting everywhere, too… for 200 TZS (± 0.12$), it’s the cheapest bet I’ve ever seen!
